It has been announced that horseman and Standardbred racehorse owner Larry Murrell, 70, who was associated with trainer Anthony Montini for years, has passed away.

Murrell passed away peacefully at St. Michael’s hospital in Toronto, on Sunday, January 12, 2020.

Larry is the beloved father of Loralee Murrell and Cory Murrell. He was a very proud grandfather of Kyle Amendola. Loving brother of Randy Murrell. Dear son of the late Helen and Maxwell Murrell.

Larry was a man that made his dreams a reality. He was a successful businessman and worked in multiple CPG companies earlier in his career. People remember Larry’s sharp style, his wearing of three-piece suits, and his charismatic, bigger-than-life personality.

Larry was an avid horse lover and owned multiple successful Standardbred racehorses throughout his life. He was also a collector and seller of sports memorabilia.

Larry will be missed by many but always remembered.

Services took place at the Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home in Newmarket, Ont. on January 15 and 16, 2020.

Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the family and friends of Larry Murrell.
