Updated Conditions For NB Breeders

Officials with Horse Racing New Brunswick have announced a modification to conditions for entrance into the NB Breeders.

Since its formation, in conjunction with the NB Breeding Grant Program, New Brunswick has seen a significant increase in mares bred. To follow that up and support local trainers, the Board of Directors voted unanimously to open the stakes conditions. This will include non-New Brunswick foaled horses who are trained 100 percent of time in New Brunswick throughout the entire series (two and three).

"This further shows the commitment level of HRNB to its horse people. And, it serves notice that New Brunswick is open for the horse business. We want owners from outside our province to consider our New Brunswick trainers as a possibility for preparing young stock," says HRNB President Brock McEachern.

The entire condition reads that as of March 1 of the two-year-old year, horses that are non-New Brunswick foaled must be trained 100 percent of the time and remain trained by a licenced New Brunswick resident throughout the time in the series at two and three. That trainer may be required to provide proof of stall rent, bills, etc.
