Rodeo Dream Vacation Up For Grabs

No crystal ball can predict success this year on the racetrack, but here’s one way of guaranteeing an end of season reward you’ll look forward to, no matter what

.

Picture yourself polishing up your cowboy boots and belt buckle for a trip to the National Rodeo Finals in Las Vegas, December 4 - 8. Yes, the Super Bowl of rodeos, where tickets are sold out over a year in advance. Where western spirit and country music prevail and where thousands annually converge on a shopaholic paradise -- the 'Cowboy Christmas Gift Show.'

Yep, that holiday can be yours simply by bidding on a vacation package at the Standardbred Breeders of Ontario Association Awards Dinner, January 22 in Guelph, Ont.

Donated by horse owner David Anderson, the dream trip includes airfare for two from Toronto, four nights at Treasure Island Hotel and two rodeo tickets.

A host of other appealing Silent Auction items will also be available. There’s everything from homemade preserves to prime Leafs and Raptors tickets, from cottage rentals to an O’Brien Awards package, and from horse transportation to prestigious golf and dinner packages. Over 50 donations in all.

And of course there’ll be breeding services from 24 quality Ontario stallions on offer, too. Astute attendees have been known to find bargains on this table in the past. And please note that the deposit on service fees this year has been reduced to $250; the rest is on a live-foal basis.

It’s sure to be a High Noon moment as the clock ticks down on the Vegas Rodeo package, as well as the night’s other auction items. Don’t miss the showdown.

Auction receipts make possible both the annual SBOA stakes for three-year-old fillies and the New Owners Mentorship program, where newcomers are paired with mentors and seasoned trainers to demystify the intricacies of racehorse ownership.

The Delta Hotel in Guelph’s south end will host the event, and the $60 tickets include parking. Noted marketing expert Dr. Joan Zielinski of Lake Forest, Illinois will be this year’s featured guest speaker. The AGM starts at 5:00 p.m., with cocktails at 5:30 p.m. and dinner at 6:30 p.m.

If you haven’t already booked your tickets, now’s the time. These girls are waiting to hear from you: Patti Cunning 905-854-1354 or Laurie Poole 519-678-3637.
