Two-Horse Spill At Mohawk Park

The ninth race on Thursday at Woodbine Mohawk Park was marred by an accident that saw two horses and drivers fall just as the field was nearing the finish line.

Sunshineinmypocket and driver Sylvain Filion were shooting between horses in deep stretch when the mare appeared to make contact with a horse in front of her.  As a result, she broke stride and fell.  Filion was flipped out of the bike.

Directly behind that mare was P L Ooooooooooyah and driver Jody Jamieson, who collided with the fallen horse.  P L Ooooooooooyah fell and ejected Jamieson from his race bike.

Both horses got up on their own power, and fortunately neither appeared to suffer serious injuries.  Drivers Filion and Jamieson also got to their feet quickly and seemed to come away with no serious injuries, though Filion did opt to book off a remaining drive in Race 11.
