The Great Lakes Amateur Driving Association (GLADA) has donated $1,000 to the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association Benevolent Fund.

The organization made the cheque presentation on Summit County Fair Day at MGM Northfield Park.

Drivers in the Great Lakes Amateur Driving Association race every week, but because they are amateurs that donate their driving commission to the organization which distributes the funds to charities.

President Steve Oldford says the group is made of non-professional drivers that enjoy the sport. “Most of us have day jobs. We have businessmen, lawyers, insurance guys that just love harness racing.”

Oldford says the mission is to race and give money away. “With the difficult times we are in, it is important to give back to help the horsemen. We are trying to help in any way we can.”

To be a member of the Great Lakes Amateur Driving Association, drivers must have a 'P' license and have not driven professionally in ten years. For more information about the GLADA contact Steve Oldford at [email protected]
