A three week break didn’t bother Armbro Chronicle one iota on Thursday evening at Woodbine Racetrack, as the 2008 O’Brien Award finalist rallied to an impressive

1:54.4 score in the $50,000 Open Trot.

Jody Jamieson picked up the “live” catch-drive behind Armbro Chronicle, who enjoyed a ground-saving trip behind pacesetter Define The World for the majority of the mile. That OSS graduate sliced out panels of :27.2 and :58 before feeling first-over pressure in the third quarter from Gusty Volo.

That outside prompter pushed Define The World to the three-quarter pole in 1:27.3, and that battling leaders were being sized up by Armbro Chronicle who was lurking in the garden spot the whole time. Jamieson angled the Kent Baker-trained seven-year-old son of Self Possessed into the centre of the racetrack and gelding hauled down the leaders en route to posting his seventh win of the campaign. Define The World held on to finish second and Gutsy Volo was third. Favoured San Pail finished sixth.

Baker and partners Cal Patterson, Jo Smith and Randy Fielder celebrated the 35th lifetime victory with the classy trotter, who now boasts a career bankroll of $1,245,402.
