The Atlantic Sires Stakes rolled into Inverness Raceway on Sunday afternoon with two-year-old pacing colts and geldings in the spotlight in a pair of $9,860 “A” divisions

and a single $2,500 “B” division.

The youngsters had to share some of the spotlight, however, with veteran teamster Kenny Arsenault.

Comebacks Sir Tax notched his third win of the season, and he did so in a career-best clocking of 2:00.1 in the opening “A” split. Kenny Arsenault chopped out panels of :31.1, 1:00.4 and 1:31.2 with the gelded son of Quick Comeback-Dragons Madam, who then used a :28.4 final frame to seal the deal by a half-length margin over Dr Alexander B. Third prize went to Goin Large.

Trainer Garth Cole shares ownership on the career winner of $11,845 with Matthew MacKay, Cory Sudsbury and Dale Adams. In nine tries the freshman has assembled a 3-3-0 record.

Allbentouttashape swung off cover in the late stages of the second division en route to driving off to a 2:00.4 score for trainer Sean Dooley. The gelded son of Quick Comeback-C A Lady was a little more than a length the best over Moneyhaha. Remember Im Laffin rounded out the top three in the $9,860 affair.

Dooley Boys Racing Stable of Halifax, NS owns the rookie, who has yet to finish worse than second in 10 lifetime assignments. His 7-3-0 record has helped him stash away $31,240 to date.

Fitelle was much the best in the lone “B” division for owner/trainer Peter Lanigan of Montague, PE. The son of Fit For Life-Boomelle gave Kenny Arsenault the stakes hat trick thanks to his front-stepping score. The gelding led through panels of :31.4, 1:02.4 and 1:33.4 before ripping off a :28.3 final frame to post the two-length decision over Accelerated Putnam. It was another five lengths back to third-place finisher Grayland Hill.

The rookie now owns a 3-0-2 record in his first eight tries, and his bankroll sits at just under $10,000 to date.
