The Truro Harness Horse Owners Association hosted a fundraiser on October 25 at Truro Raceway in support of Clare MacDonald, who was injured in a racing accident in Saint John, N.B. this summer.

The event auctioned off a variety of items including stud breedings from Mantwo, Astronomical, Yankee Leader and Galantine Hanover. In addition, Andrew from Meridian Farms donated two breedings and Whim Farms of Atlantic Canada donated one breeding from their stallions.

"So far, there's $7,600 raised for Clare MacDonald including the stallion services," said Tammy MacKay, the fundraiser's organizer.

MacKay told Trot Insider that MacDonald, in turn, made a surprise donation of her own.

"Clare has decided to start a benevolent fund for Truro Raceway with the donations/support from the auction. This gesture was very kind for Clare to do and will certainly help others in need. We at Truro are very appreciative of her generosity."
