Sovereign Award-winning journalist Dave Perkins of The Toronto Star has spoken with trainers Ray Schnittker and Brent MacGrath, and the pair of conditioners have commented on their star performers.

Tomorrow night at Mohawk Racetrack, Deweycheatumnhowe will be looking to make amends in the $1 million Canadian Trotting Classic, after having suffered his first-ever defeat last weekend in his CTC elimination. The Hambletonian winner will have to overcome a daunting Post 10 start in order to get the job done.

"They all get beat, if you race them long enough," Schnittker said. "But he came out of it good and it looks like he's feeling good."

Commenting on his decision to stick to his original plan and not race his colt in the Little Brown Jug, MacGrath told Perkins that he has been hearing the opinions of some fans that have been unrelenting in their push to see Somebeachsomewhere race in the annual classic.

"No second thoughts. We're taking an awful pile of heat about it, but we're sticking to our plans, because we think it's working," MacGrath explained.
