Icanflylikeanangel has a New York Sire Stakes win on his resume in 2017 and the three-year-old added another victory to his card on Thursday afternoon at Saratoga Casino Hotel.
The Benny Eggers trainee was the odds-on betting favourite in the $10,250 feature for New York Sired trotters and moved out to an easy lead with Bruce Aldrich, Jr. in the sulky. The sophomore high-stepper had little difficulty cruising to a coast-to-coast win in 1:57.2 on the matinee program. Mind Your Manners (Mickey McGivern), also fresh off a try in the NYSS competition, sat the pocket and finished second in the feature while longshot Cash Bonus (Alek Chartrand) earned the show spot.
Icanflylikeanangel has now tallied earnings of over $63,000 this season by way of five wins and five second place finishes. The victory was one of two for Aldrich on a day that saw reinsman Jimmy Devaux tally five winners.
Live racing continues on Friday night at Saratoga with a 6:45 p.m. first post.
