Bene Bene now has the distinction of fetching the highest amount ever paid for an Ontario-Sired trotter.

A daughter of Kadabra, Bene Bene joined Prince De Vie, who also garnered a winning bid of $400,000, at the top of Tuesday's session of the Lexington, Kentucky sale at Fasig-Tipton Sales Pavilion.

The fireworks started early when Hip 5 Prince De Vie was purchased by agent Myron Bell for $400,000. The son of Cantab Hall-Dream Angel is the full-brother to Oasis Dream (1:53.4 - $221,961). He was consigned by Preferred Equine Inc.

Hip 75 Bene Bene was a $400,000 purchase - the highest price ever paid for an Ontario-sired trotter - by the partnership of Mel Hartmann, Marvin Katz and David Mc Duffee. The daughter of Kadabra-Pizza Dolce, who was consigned by Hunterton Sales Agency Inc., is the full-sister to OSS star Miss Paris (1:54.2 - $865,160) and Bella Dolce (1:54.2 - $730,384).

Hip 48 Dante went to agent Bernie Noren for $355,000. The son of Credit Winner-Michelles Angel is the full-brother to world champion Archangel (1:50 - $1,062,429). The yearling was consigned by Diamond Creek Farm.

Hip 97 Sonoma Valley was purchased by George Segal for $325,000. The Rocknroll Hanover-Arts Vintage filly, consigned by Brittany Farms, is the three-quarter sister to Vintage Master (1:48.1 - $2,160,953), Great Vintage (1:49.1 - $694,508) and Ideal Vintage (1:50.2 - $493,598).

Hip 69 The Perfect Lindy was purchased for $320,000 by agent Robert Lindstrom. The son of Credit Winner is the first foal out of Highscore Kemp (1:51.4 - $111,546). That stakes-winning dam is the sister to this year’s Hambletonian winner, Trixton (1:50.3 - $840,604).

A total of 97 yearlings went through the sales ring and the total for those yearlings was $10,181,000, producing an average of nearly $104,959. It was a sharp rise from last year’s opening-session average price of $89,010.

The sale continues on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. featuring Hips 101 - 264.
