John Dayton’s Just A Jolt recorded his 15th win of the season Monday at Harrington Raceway in the $18,000 Open Handicap in 1:51.4.
Trained by Jim King, Jr. and driven by Victor Kirby, the massive win total for Just A Jolt is the best in North America this year for four-year-olds. Kirby placed the 4-year-old Village Jolt gelding first over after pacesetter Mojo Terror after fractions of :27.3, :56.2 and 1:24.4, and edged clear in the stretch for the win. Mojo Terror held second while People Are Crazy closed ground late for third. The winner paid $5.20.
Just A Jolt boosted his seasonal bankroll to nearly $190,000. It was one of three wins on the card for Kirby.
Meanwhile, driver Jon Roberts was on fire with five wins on the program, including four consecutive in races two through five, two of which were behind Josh Parker-trained horses Invictus Hanover ($2.20) and Shark Fantasy ($2.80). Roberts also brought in longshots Intrepid Hall ($28.60) and Cruising West ($19.20).
Earlier on the program, two “Rickshaw Rumble” races were held to benefit Horse Lovers United, which finds homes for horses who can no longer compete. Tiffany Cooper and Montrell Teague won the first division while Cody Poliseno and Emily Thompson won the second.
