The new Ailsa Craig Medical Centre is able to get closer to its fundraising target with the assistance of John Campbell, the East Williams born and raised

harness racing success story.

Campbell has made arrangements for a lucky couple to win a trip to his home track at the Meadowlands Racetrack in New Jersey. The trip includes a Saturday night at the races with a complimentary supper at the track restaurant, as well as lunch with John that day. John has also donated a pair of hockey tickets for what is now his home team, the New Jersey Devils vs. Toronto Maple Leafs on Friday, February 5. The prize also includes all transportation to the airports, flights, and hotel for two people. Trip dates are February 4 to 7th, 2010.

Local merchants in Parkhill and Ailsa Craig are assisting with ticket sales, or by phone, through Baillie’s Framing (519) 238-1472. Tickets are $10 ea. or 3 for $20. The draw will be held on November 14th in Ailsa Craig to coincide with a community Open House to celebrate the completion of the new medical clinic. Ailsa Craig has been without medical care since 2001.

I bought my ticket already. It would be nice to thank John in person for his community spirit!!!!!

We can never have enough good news stories like this one . Despite travelling far and wide, I am sure a part of John's heart remains in the community where he was born and raised and where his parents still live . In the "old days" many small town Doctors owned harness horses as a pastime . I am sure they would be very approving of his generosity .The Campbells are the very finest of people ....

I would expect no less from Mr. Campbell. What a credit he is to his family, community, friends and harness racing. A hall of member INDEED!!!!!!! Thanks for being you. Al and Kendra Casselman<
