Opening weekend of Century Mile's harness racing meet was halted after an accident occurred in the first race on Friday, Sept. 26.

The remainder of Friday evening's 11-race card was cancelled due to poor track conditions. The 12-race card scheduled for Saturday afternoon, Sept. 27 has also been cancelled.

"The health and safety of our equine athletes and horsemen are our top priority," said a Century Mile statement posted on social media announcing the cancellations. "We appreciate your understanding."

The opener was won by two-year-old pacing colt Machyagonadobadboy and driver Dave Hudon in 1:58.4 for trainer Blaine Chappell, but the race was marred by an accident involving the Rick Schneider-trained three-year-old filly Javatanna (Thomas Miller), who broke stride and fell early on, as well as freshman colt Mammas Faith (Harold Haining), who was interfered with and pulled up.

Updates on the horses and drivers involved will be provided here if made available.
