Atlantic Champion pacer Malignity will face off with former Gold Cup and Saucer winner Time To Dance in the Saturday evening feature at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The 11-dash Saturday card has a 6 p.m. opening post time with the $4,100 featured Preferred 2 Pace lining up in race 10.
Time To Dance (pictured above) is the morning line favourite from post two in the feature for driver Marc Campbell and trainer Brent Campbell, who co-owns with Brady Doyle and Kent MacDonald. The son of A Rocknroll Dance will seek his first win of 2024 in the featured pace after finishing second last week in line to Gilles Barrieau while race timed in 1:53.4.
Malignity put together champion seasons in 2022 and 2023 in Atlantic Canada and has post six in the top event for trainer/driver Paul Langille. The son of Malicious has won 23 of 36 starts lifetime while earning $179,856 strictly in Atlantic Canada.
Also in the field are First Glance (David Dowling), Tradition (Gordie Hennessey), Jewels Dragon (Ryan Desroche), The Devils Cash (Damian MacLellan) and Blood Money (Ken Murphy).
The Post Time Picks goes with Malignity in the win slot: “Malignity has two wins and a third since Langille made equipment changes four starts back. His only off-the-board finish came three starts back when he was locked in and loaded with pace but couldn't find racing room in the stretch. There's lots of inside speed to chase so I'm betting he scores from off-the-pace tonight.”
The program also has a pair of non-wagering P.E.I. Matinee Racing Championship Finals on the program as the culmination of the season across the Island’s five matinee racetracks. The first final goes after race two with a field of retired veteran pacers in Painted Pony (Billy White), The Gormanizor (Landon Campbell), Adkins Hanover (Cy Poirier) and Starcastic (Roger MacRae).
The other Matinee final lines up after race four with a field of aspiring drivers behind Freedom Delight (Zac Noye), Buddysnvirgins (Tyler Neill), Rosieallover (Carson Wilkie) and The Lady Sheriff (Landon Campbell).
