Taking full advantage of class relief after dropping out of the Open, Biscoe led at every station in the featured $15,205 conditioned/optional claiming trot at Batavia Downs on Friday, Sept. 26.
Jim McNeight Jr. sent Biscoe to the front from post four and led by more than a length through panels of :29, :59.1 and 1:28.4 while Famous Dan (Jim Morrill Jr.) tracked from the pocket. After rounding the last turn, Biscoe trotted away from Famous Dan as they made their way down the lane and he held off a fast-closing Good Boy (Ray Fisher Jr.) as well to win by 1-1/2 lengths in 1:57.4. The odds-on favourite paid $4.18 to win.
Biscoe is owned by his driver and trained by Jeff Martin. The son of International Moni-Setntheworldonfire, who was an Open II winner at Batavia on Aug. 7, earned his sixth victory of the season in 17 starts.
Jim Morrill Jr. continued his torrid pace at The Downs this week, winning five more races on Friday's 13-race card. Morrill won with Mucho Macho (1:57.3, $9.86) for trainer Julie Wagonblott, Sportsmanship (1:54.3, $9.82) for Rose Russo, Four Finger Floyd (1:55.3, $3.26) for John Leggio, the Sam Smith stable's HP Running Mass (1:59.4, $4) and Sportskeeper (1:56.2, $3.10).
Morrill also had one second and four thirds from his 11 total starts to post a stellar .626 UDR for the evening.
In the last four cards of racing since last Friday, Morrill has won 20 races at Batavia Downs.
Live harness racing resumes at Batavia Downs on Saturday, Sept. 27, with post time at 6 p.m. There will be a carryover of $2,947 in the Jackpot Super Hi-5 pentafecta in the 13th race.
