An $11,300 conditioned trot was served up as the main dish on Wednesday evening, Sept. 25 at Grand River Raceway and Jgs Pal took the long way around, but still prevailed in the featured class.
As the car drew away, the field battled for their place along the pylons, but Jgs Pal and Samuel Fillion never found that place before the quarter in :27 as they took back to the tail end of the pack. The pair idled briefly in seventh on the pylons, but moved out once again on the move to the top. They were seventh from the outside at the :56.2 half, 7-1/4 lengths trailing off the leading Hilarious Archie (Jason Ryan). Still continuing in seventh, Jgs Pal bridged the gap to 5-3/4 lengths at the three-quarters in 1:25. He moved three-wide going into the turn and then was pushed five-wide down the stretch. Coasting down the center of the track, Jgs Pal bested his field by a length in 1:56.1. Jay Richard Nyce (Brett MacDonald) finished second and Star Hairdresser (Austin Sorrie) was third.
Jgs Pal (Tactical Landing-Dressed To Impress) is owned by trainer Bryan Lawrence with Stuart Lawrence and Smurk Inc. He earned his seventh career win and improved his seasonal tally to 6-0-3 in 12 starts. The final time was a career best for the sophomore gelding.
Delivering as the favourite, he paid $4.10 to win.
