Lawyers representing a group of Ontario Standardbred breeders and lawyers for the Ontario Government were in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice in Guelph on Tuesday, September 23.
According to a report by the Guelph Mercury, a request from the province to adjourn a motion in regard to producing documents in the case was dismissed.
Jonathan Lisus, the head lawyer for the breeders, was claiming victory with the decision. He was quoted as saying that the breeders "were pleased that the motion to adjourn was dismissed and we're going to get documents."
In April, a group of Standardbred breeders from across the province issued Statements Of Claim against the Province of Ontario and against the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation for damages arising from the manner in which the Slots at Racetracks Program was cancelled.
Both sides are due back in court October 20
