7,000 Wins For Gendron

Two late wins Friday at Rideau Carleton Raceway vaulted veteran Quebec driver Gilles Gendron into the 7,000-win club

.

Gendron, 64, won the 11th with Rimshod and the 14th with Canaco Rossy to join Quebec natives Herve Filion, Michel Lachance and Luc Ouellette in the select group of about 25 North American drivers who have posted 7,000 career wins.

He’s the first driver to have accumulated that many wins while racing primarily in Quebec.

Gendron was the dominant driver at Blue Bonnets racetrack during the 1970s and 1980s. With the disappearance of racing in Montreal this year, he now competes primarily at Rideau Carleton.
