"I have said it forever, it's the tradition of this place that makes it special. It's heat racing, in the afternoon, on the fairgrounds. Every year, I can't wait to get here. This is where our world stops, on the third Thursday of September."
Announcer Roger Huston is an institution at the Little Brown Jug. His passionate calls electrify the already energized crowds which annually flock to Ohio's Delaware County Fairgrounds to take in one of the true spectacles of horse racing.
As his above quote -- taken from a story by The Columbus Dispatch -- explains, the Little Brown Jug is more than a special event on the stakes calendar, and Huston's association with the proceedings is truly unique.
"You know you're at the Jug when you hear Roger Huston," driver Dave Repine was quoted as saying. "Even on the track, in a race, when I hear him I get goose bumps. And I've been coming here 20 years."
