A total of 16 three-year-old pacing fillies have been drawn into a pair of opening-heat splits of the $353,400 Jugette, which will be contested Wednesday, September 22 at Ohio's Delaware County Fair
.
The annual classic for three-year-old pacing fillies is raced in heats over the half-mile oval, and serves as a lead-in to the highly-anticipated Little Brown Jug, which will also be decided in heats on Thursday, September 23.
Trained by Mark Harder and to be driven by Brian Sears, Four Starzzz Shark bay Dancinwiththestarz has drawn Post 6 in the first of the opening-heat splits. Having won seven of her 12 seasonal starts and placed in the five other decisions, the filly is heading into the event after just coming up short in the Nadia Lobell Stakes at the Red Mile in Lexington, Kentucky.
Other standouts in Dancinwiththestarz's split are Rock N Soul (PP4, Y. Gingras) and A And Gs Princess (PP5, G. Brennan).
Western Silk, who qualified in good order this morning at Mohawk Racetrack for trainer Casie Coleman and driver Mark MacDonald, will headline the second of the opening-heat splits. The daughter of Western Terror has drawn Post 4.
Other notables in Western Silk's tilt are Dancin Barefoot (PP1, D. Dube), Panagler (PP6, D. Palone) and Full Picture (PP7, R. Pierce).
Absent from the Jugette is the high-profile Chris Ryder-trained filly Put On A Show, who has won 10 of 12 starts this year and $837,293 in purses.
This is the second richest Jugette in the 40-year history of the race, topped only by the $358,175 purse in 2003.
