Boiling Oar picked up where he left off earlier this year at Fraser Downs -- winning the $12,000 Open Pace -- for the red-hot Jim Marino stable on the first Friday of the new meet.

Boiling Oar won Fraser's last Open on the April 28 closing day of the previous meet and was back in the winner's circle on Friday after holding off Iwontdothatagain by a head in 1:52.1. Three More Smiles followed more than nine lengths in arrears and completed a 2-3 finish for the Kelly Hoerdt crew.

Boiling Oar, who earned three wins from seven starts while competing at Alberta's Century Downs throughout the summer, was sent postward at odds of 10-1 and returned $23 to win.

Bill Tainsh Jr. picked up the drive on the four-year-old Shadow Play-Arm In Arm gelding for the J J J Stables. Boiling Oar recorded his eighth win of the year from 18 starts and lifted his earnings to nearly $60,000.

Marino doubled up on Friday after kicking off the fall meet on Thursday night with a half-dozen winners.
