After seven decades of being involved in the thoroughbred industry 86-year-old trainer Lorne Dupont figures it’s time to turn himself out to pasture

"Part of me has trouble leaving,” Dupont admitted in today’s edition of the Edmonton Journal. “But I know it's the right thing to do. There's no racing in Calgary. Calgary is my home and a lot of the Calgary owners are getting out of the business.”
As you can well imagine Dupont has experienced a number of highs and lows during his tenure in the sport – including losing a daughter in a tragic accident at the track.
All of his racing possessions will be sold, according to the veteran trainer. Everything, that is, except his helmet which was hand painted by his late daughter, Maureen.
