Unbeaten two-year-old trotting filly Jesses Messenger and Xenia’s Ohio Hall-of-Famer Chip Noble shared honours during Monday’s racing program at the Delaware County
Fair.
Jesses Messenger made it eight wins in-a-row with a 2:01.4 wire-to-wire triumph in the second division of the $57,634 Ohio Breeders Championship for two-year-old filly trotters and Noble picked up his 93rd Delaware victory behind Call The Warden in the first division of the $64,034 OBC for two-year-old colt and gelding trotters.
Jesses Messenger pushed her career earnings to $121,725 with a winning decision for driver Ryan Stahl over Victory Is Coming and Lima Solo. The daughter of Jailhouse Jesse, who is owned by Daryl Sherman of Elmore, OH, is trained by Kent Sherman.
Stolen Crown, driven by Mark Headworth, won the first division of the OBC filly trot in 2:03.1 over Anastasia Whinnie and Photo Spur. Jim Mulinix trains the filly by Jailhouse Jesse for DM Stables of Naples, FL and Denny Miller of Archbold, OH.
Noble’s 2:01 win with Call The Warden was the third OBC division in a row sired by Jailhouse Jesse. The victory was the colt’s fourth of the season. Call The Warden is trained by Jim Arledge, Jr. and owned by Laura Baker and James Morrow of Granville, OH, Thomas York of Newark, OH and Kathleen Morrow of California.
Bookem prevailed in a three-horse photo finish in the second division of the OBC for two-year-old trotting colts and geldings. Aaron Merriman guided the son of Ilooklikemymom to his seventh career win over the fast closing Rose Run Legend and Count Dracula. The winning effort was timed in 2:01.
