Harness racing in Alberta shifts to Edmonton with the start of the Century Mile meet on Saturday, Sept. 21.
The fall/winter meet will kick off with a 12-race card at 7:30 p.m. The feature race is the $8,900 ninth race for claiming-conditioned pacers. Show Stop, the only starter racing with a $15,000 tag, is coming off back-to-back wins in September at The Track On 2 for trainer/driver David Kelly, who is approaching a career milestone. Kelly is just three wins shy of 1,000 and has a dozen drives on Saturday.
Century Mile will host live harness racing on Fridays and Saturdays through Dec. 21 and on New Year's Eve. Post time will be 7:30 p.m.
Highlights will include the $110,000 (est.) Western Canada Pacing Derby for three-year-old colts and the companion Century Casinos Filly Pace on Saturday, Oct. 12 with eliminations for both stakes the week prior. The Alberta Sires Stakes season also continues at Century Mile, which will host the Challenge Of Champions Super Finals on Saturday, Nov. 2.
