Western Canada's fastest two-year-old pacer, Flak Jacket, has been sold
.
The Brandons Cowboy-Jackies Whacky colt, who was previously trained and owned by Ryan Grundy along with his grandfather Art Grundy and Fred and Derek Gilbert of Manitoba, was recently sold to Robert Murphy of Surrey, B.C.
"I liked the way this young colt did all the work himself last week," new trainer Jamie Gray told the Daily Herald-Tribune. "He took on all comers, set a new track record in the process and he did it easy."
In his Alberta Sires Stake Alberta Rising Star division last Friday at Grande Prairie, Flak Jacket lowered the track’s freshman pacing record to 1:57.2. He currently sports a record reading 4-2-0 in six starts and is listed as the 6-5 favourite in the morning line for his new connections in one of two $30,000 Forrest William Memorial Sales Stake divisions scheduled for Sunday.
Sunday’s program will also feature four $12,500 divisions of the Red Serge Classic Sales Stake for sophomore pacing colts and geldings. To view Sunday’s harness racing entries, click here.
