Ryan Campbell had seven drives on Saturday (Sept. 18) at Northside Downs and only two of them were sent off as the betting choice. He delivered with one plus four others to end the day with a five-win performance.
After wins with Sweet Sweet Rosco (2:01.4; $6.90) in the third and Wenitrainsitpours (1:59.3; $10.20) in the fifth, Campbell scored a natural hat-track winning the seventh, eighth and ninth dashes. Classic Smiley (2:00.1; $6:30) prevailed in the seventh, Finer Things (1:59; $4.90) hung on in the eighth before Travis Campbell's Johnnie Jack converted off a second over trip in the $1,600 Winners Over feature to win by a half-length over favoured Southwind Ricardo (Mark Pezzarello) in 1:56.4.
The five-win performance vaulted Campbell into second place in the Northside drivers' standings with 17 wins this season at the Cape Breton oval, just three behind the 20 wins posted by dash leader Pezzarello.
