End Of Season Claiming Series Begins

Hiawatha Horse Park's End Of Season Claiming Series for $4,000 claiming male pacers kicked off on Saturday night with four $3,500 divisions

In the opening division, Sixty Degree Club ($14.60) converted from the pocket to win for the first time this season in 1:56.2 for driver Mark Williams and trainer Kevin Tremblay. The four-year-old gelded son of Allamerican Ingot is owned by David Edwards of Freelton, Ont.

The popular Mission Seelster ($4.70) was a wire-to-wire winner in the next split with Don Rankin Jr. in the sulky. The five-year-old gelded son of Modern Art halted the teletimer in 1:55.4 for his third win in 13 starts this year. Claimed for $6,000 on August 31 at Grand River Raceway by trainer Robert Morrison, Mission Seelster posted a runner-up performance and tonight’s win for his new owner before being claimed for $4,000 tonight by Patrick McIlhargey of Lucan, Ont.

Ondowntheroad ($11.70) also went down the road to win his division in 1:56.2 by one and a half lengths. Kevin Wallis drove the eight-year-old gelded son of Jate Lobell to his first win of 2011 for trainer Daniel Kenney and owner Gerald Schneider of Windsor, Ont.

Artiovascular ($8.20) and driver Mark Pezzarello inherited the 1:58 victory in the final division after Willow Glyn was first-placed-seventh for causing interference while on a break at the start of the race. The 11-year-old gelded son of Artiscape, now a two-time winner this year, is trained by Rick Lake for owner Sharon Dalke of Riverdale, Michigan.
