Three For Team MacLean

Trainer France MacLean teamed up with driver Paul MacLean to earn a hat trick on Sudbury Downs’ 12-race program Wednesday evening

The MacLeans earned their first victory in the fourth race with the five-year-old Astreos son Magnum Star, who went coast-to-coast to win by three lengths in 1:58. Next up was Mexicali Rose, a three-year-old Omar Khayam pacing filly, who held on by a nose to win for the first time in her sophomore season in 2:00.4. Paul owns both winners.

The pair also prevailed with Glenview Livestock’s front-stepping three-year-old Astreos gelding, Doc Beatz Em All, in 1:58.3 in the 10th race.

For France, the training triple bumped his yearly win total to 45 and earnings to nearly $300,000. With 303 victories lifetime, the local resident has earned over $1.6 million in purses.
