Tymal Riggs steamrolled first-over on his way to matching Flamboro Downs' track record for aged trotting stallions in Sunday's (Sept. 15) $11,000 Preferred Trot with driver Travis Henry aboard.
The scratched down field of five saw Delgado (driven by Scott Young) fire to the lead in the first turn before 14-1 shot Willyorwonthe (Austin Sorrie) moved from the pocket at the quarter in :28.2 while Tymal Riggs stalked from third. Willyorwonthe had things his way to the half in :57.3 before Henry and Tymal Riggs tipped from third to begin their first-over move at three-quarters in 1:26.3.
Tymal Riggs brushed to the front on the final turn, powering to a two-length advantage turning for home. The lead only grew from there, with Tymal Riggs trotting home in :29.1 to cross the wire 3-1/4 lengths clear in 1:56.1. Prince Archie (Steven Hudon) rallied for second, with Andy Over (Ed Hensley) finishing third. Tymal Riggs paid $5.50 to win.
Owned and trained by Mark Etsell, the 1:56.1 clocking matched the track record first established by Speed Bomb in 2007 for aged trotting stallions.
The seven-year-old son of Kadabra-All Filled Up has visited the winner's circle six times in 21 outings this season. The win was the 20th in the career for Tymal Riggs who has banked $248,060 lifetime.
Henry and Etsell also teamed up with Adare Castle earlier on the Sunday night card who was a five-length winner in 1:57.2 in $7,800 conditioned trotting company.
In all, Henry steered three winners on the card to lead all drivers.
