The titans of the sport, past and present, will be on hand at Mohawk Racetrack this Saturday evening as part of Canadian Trotting Classic night at the Campbell

ville, Ont. oval.

Harness racing’s newest superstar, Muscle Hill, will headline the $1 million Canadian Trotting Classic for the sport’s best three-year-old trotting colts and geldings. A victory would extend his perfect record this year to nine and would vault him past $1.8 million in seasonal earnings and $2.7 million lifetime.

The son of Muscles Yankee won his CTC elimination this past Saturday night by more than five lengths and will start from Post 4 in the rich final with regular driver Brian Sears in tow.

Former Canadian Trotting Classic winner Mr Muscleman will be on hand at Mohawk as part of the festivities, and fans will have a chance to meet the nine-year-old gelding as they enter the track this Saturday.

Mr Muscleman won the 2003 edition of Canada’s richest race for trotters and retired last season with $4,032,206 in career earnings, making him one of the richest performers in harness racing history. He will also lead the post parade for this year’s event.

The Woodbine Entertainment Group will also pay tribute to the living legend John Campbell in celebration of his 2009 induction into the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame.

There will be a poster giveaway for the early bird customers, and Campbell, a winner of more than 10,000 races and $268 million in purses, will be on hand for an autograph session at 6:30 p.m. One lucky fan will win an autographed set of his driving colours in a second-chance draw.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday night and first race post time is at 7:30 p.m.

Campbell will be starting from Post 5 in the Canadian Trotting Classic with the Jimmy Takter-trained Yonkers Trot winner Judge Joe.

I have watched John Campbell from the beginning of his career. Have had several times where I have congratulated him on victories and events such as the Mayor's Breakfast in Delaware, Ohio, my home town. He is a perfect role model for the Harness Industry and a true gentleman. Hopes are for many more years of success to a man who deserves every accolade given to him. I see he is driving Keep It Real this Saturday....hopefully he gets to steer him in Delaware on Jug Day!
