A disqualification placed Luck B Mine in the winner's circle of the $15,000 Fillies and Mares Open Pace at Saratoga Casino Hotel on Tuesday (Sept. 14).
The four-year-old daughter of Bettors Delight came first-over before clearing the lead heading to three-quarters. Favourite Bontz N got clear after being shuffled back and motored up on the outside. The even-money favourite made a brief break, and although she righted the ship before coming on to stop the timer in 1:54.3, she was nonetheless disqualified for causing interference while on a break. Luck B Mine, who finished second, was placed first to log her fourth victory in her last six starts. Miss Irish Rose A hit the line third but was elevated to second while Onspeed N was placed third.
Luck B Mine paid $7.80 to win and led an exacta and triple that came back $98 and $799, respectively. The razor sharp mare is owned by Steve Guido of Cicero, N.Y. and Don Stockwell of Hudson Falls, N.Y. Jimmy Devaux drove the John Podres trainee to victory.
Live racing resumes on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 19) at Saratoga with a first post set for 12 p.m. (EDT).
