Undefeated two-year-old pacing fillies Go To The Windows and Run And Tell earned back-to-back victories in the second leg of the Betty Millbank B.C. Breeders Stakes on Friday night at Fraser Downs.
Both fillies were the favourites with outside post five starting spots after winning their first leg divisions last Friday, Sept. 6.
Go To The Windows ($3.90) kicked off the second round with a career-best 2:01.4 triumph for trainer/driver Dennis Johnson, who shares ownership of the Allamerican Cobalt-Bold Beauty filly with breeder Sharon Graham of Surrey, B.C.
Once again, Johnson worked out a three-hole trip for the filly through fractions of :28.3, 1:00, and 1:31.1. Tipped to the outside at the third quarter mark, Go To The Windows wore down race leader Killemwithmyawsome in a :30.1 final quarter quarter to win her second start by two lengths. Shales Meriya finished over eight lengths behind in third.
Run And Tell ($3.30) circled the field in the second $7,500 split through fractions of :30.3, 1:01.3 and 1:30.3. She had opened up two and a half lengths on the field by the third quarter mark and kicked home in :29.3 to maintain that margin at the wire in 2:00.1. Terrormissu and Jans Lucky Girl finished second and third.
Kevin Anderson drove the Power Of Art-Muddy Waters filly, who is now three-for-three in her career, for trainer Debra McCarthy and owner/breeder Mark Anderson of Willows, California.
Two-year-old pacing fillies return to Fraser Downs on Friday, Oct. 25 for the third elimination leg of the B.C. Breeders Stakes. The fourth round will take place on Saturday, Nov. 2, followed by the finals on Monday, Nov. 11.
Bill 'The Dominator' Davis reeled off four consecutive driving wins mid-card, including three with his own trainees, the maiden-breaking sophomore colt I Dont Really Care, eight-year-old pacer Classic Ambition and the streaking B.C. Breeders Stakes sophomore filly champion Hurts So Bad.
This week's $10,500 top class was won by favourite Sterling Cooper ($4.10) and trainer/driver David Hudon in wire-to-wire fashion in 1:53.1. The five-year-old Camluck gelding notched his fourth win in a row and 10th in 16 seasonal starts for local owners Kelly Hudon and Mary Jane Wiggins.
