The Tuesday night (Sept. 12) harness racing program at Running Aces featured the $17,600 Open Handicap Pace with a talented field of seven going into battle.
Macs Marvel (Brady Jenson) was sent off as the clear favourite at 6-5 on the board while American Dreamer (Todd Warren) was the public's second pick at 7-2.
Super Mac (Dean Magee) was fastest off the car from the inside draw and led early while Caliber (Luke Plano) challenged and American Dreamer also pursued the front. Caliber worked past Super Mac just past the :27.4 quarter, but American Dreamer immediately took over and was settled on top at the :56.1 half-mile checkpoint.
The action remained hot as driver Kevin Wallis activated No Lou Zing from fourth with a sharp move down the backside, taking the lead as they made the bend onto the far turn while PD The Big Easy, Topville Rocknluck and Macs Marvel all chased cover and the three-quarters flashed up in 1:24.
No Lou Zing had command turning for home and powered through the lane to post a 2-1/4-length tally while Topville Rocknluck moved into second and Macs Marvel rallied late for third.
The 1:52.1 victory was the seventh score of the season for the six-year-old son of Sweet Lou who has now earned $829,537 lifetime. He is owned by A Piece Of The Action and is trained by Jenni King.
Drivers Dean Magee, Mooney Svendsen, Kevin Wallis and Todd Warren all posted doubles on the Tuesday card.
