Countess Stormont made her win in the $15,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred Trot look like a walk in the park on Saturday night at Georgian Downs

.

With the inside post advantage, the co-favoured Kadabra-Lady Orbitex mare headed straight to the lead with Jonathan Drury at the controls and bypassed quarter markers of :28.1, :57.3 and 1:26.2 before kicking away by four and a half lengths in the stretch. Countess Stormont tripped the teletimer in 1:55.3 to score her seventh win in 25 seasonal starts.

Desperatehousewife (Todd Ratchford) survived a first-over journey to finish second over the pocket-sitting Bucato (Mike Langdon).

Norm Jones trains the four-year-old for owners/breeders Stormont Meadows of Long Sault, Ont. Now a 12-time career winner, Countess Stormont has banked $242,614 in purse earnings.
