Following a 1:49.2 stakes record performance in the $342,875 Cane Pace on Saturday night at Pocono Downs, the connections of Betterthancheddar will supplement the Bettors Delight colt to the 66th edition of the Little Brown Jug
at the Delaware County Fair.
Trainer Casie Coleman confirmed with Trot Insider on Sunday that Betterthancheddar will be supplemented to the second leg of the pacing triple crown, which takes place on September 22. The only way an ineligible horse can supplement to the Jug is by winning the first leg, the Cane Pace, and paying the $45,000 fee.
Coleman also noted that Yannick Gingras will retain the drive.
Unraced at two, Betterthancheddar has won five times in 11 starts this year while banking close to $250,000 for owners Steve Calhoun of Chatham, Ont. and the West Wins Stable of Cambridge, Ont.
My understanding is that
My understanding is that Yannick has booked off to drive one of Burke's horses. George Brennan will drive him in the Jug.
If he was to win... would't
If he was to win... would't it be a first for an unraced 2 yr old to win The Jug?

A couple of horses have won
A couple of horses have won the Jug without racing at two. Tell All was the last. Colt Fortysix and Seatrain also were unraced at two.
What a nice drive Yannick
What a nice drive Yannick Gingras did with Betterhandcheddar in Cane pace.
