A Partnership That Was Meant To Be

Racing appears to be in Dugout Andee’s blood as the eight-year-old Firm Friend-Pacen Shyanne gelding has returned to the track time and time again for his longtime owner and trainer Larry Hastings

.

Although Dugout Andee was sold as a youngster, he made his way back to his original owner/breeder and later rebounded from three torn suspensories in the same leg. The winner of 11 races and $93,558 lifetime was retired last month, but his enthusiasm for racing landed him back on track last week where he put forth one of his best efforts in almost two years finishing second by a nose.

“He was game and I was very pleased with the way he came back. I guess we were just meant to be together. It’s the second time I gave him away and he’s found his way back to me again,” Hastings told the Daily Herald-Tribune.

Dugout Andee will return to the Grande Prairie half-miler on Saturday in Race 6 and will start from Post 7 with Brandon Campbell driving. The card will feature over $180,000 in purses as three-year-old pacers face off in a total of nine Atlantic Sires Stakes divisions. Post time is set for 1 p.m. To view Saturday's entries, click here.
