Driver Mike Hennessy was firing on all cylinders on Monday, Sept. 1 at The Track On 2, winning five of seven including winning one of two claiming series finals with Kiss My Bet, while Logan Gillis and Frostfire scored the win in the other co-feature.
Hennessy kicked off the card with three consecutive wins in each of the first three races with Wash N Wax ($2.10, 1:56.3), Firm Ringo ($36, 1:55.2) and Whose Stolen Art ($5, 1:59.4) before snagging both ends of the late double, beginning with Kiss My Bet in the $13,800 conditioned claiming series final.
Leaving from post three as the 1-5 favourite, Hennessy hustled Kiss My Bet directly to the top off the wings through an opening quarter of :28.2. The five foes remained lined up behind the favourite to the half in :58.1 before Sams Jizzy Jet (Brandon Campbell) charged alongside the leader on the far turn, battling nose-to-nose through three-quarters in 1:28.3.
Sams Jizzy Jet grabbed a short lead at the top of the lane before Kiss My Bet battled back to his inside to regain control. Kiss My Bet turned away Sams Jizzy Jet, but would face one final charge from Ima Party Boy (Phil Giesbrecht), who came up a quarter-length short of Kiss My Bet in 1:56.4. Shady Roan (David Kelly) rallied for the show spot, 1-1/4 lengths behind the winner.
Trained by Brinsley Brooking Lutz, Kiss My Bet has won three straight and eight of 22 races on the season. Brooking Lutz also co-owns the four-year-old stallion, who has won 11 times for his career and banked $50,762, with Harvey Jaeger.
Kiss My Bet paid $2.60 to win before Hennessy came right back to win the finale with Credit Is Magic ($4.30, 1:54) for his fifth and final win.
Meanwhile, in the $14,200 filly and mare conditioned claiming final, Frostfire teamed up with co-owner, trainer and driver Logan Gillis for the victory.
Frostfire got away in fourth from post four while 3-5 favourite Cambridge Duchess (Hennessy) cut the opening quarter of :27.4. Cambridge Duchess maintained the lead through a half of :56.2 when Shes Like The Win (Campbell) moved first-over and into second at three-quarters in 1:26.1 as Frostfire was shuffled to fourth.
Frostfire appeared buried in traffic at the top of the stretch before Gillis found a seam to swing the mare wide. Once clear, Frostfire exploded home in :28.3 to open up by 2-1/2 lengths on the field on the line to stop the timer in 1:55.2. Blue Star Sapphire (David Kelly) rallied up the rail to be second, with Shes Like The Wind finishing third.
Co-owned by Brock MacLellan, Frostfire has now won two of 19 starts in 2025. The four-year-old daughter of BJs Bequia-Personal Promise sports career earnings of $30,911 following the lifetime-best effort.
Frostfire paid $7.70 to win at the betting windows.
