According to a report, discussions are underway between Horse Racing New Brunswick and the province's department of finance regarding the possibility of bringing a racino to Saint John.
The CBC article has cited city councillor Gerry Lowe --- who is also an Exhibition Park Raceway board member --- as saying that the Atlantic Lottery Corporation will be undertaking a six to eight-week study of costs.
The report has cited Lowe as saying that the introduction of a racino would be a positive move. "Anything that brings people into town puts money into the economy, simple as that," he was quoted as saying.
The report has also cited Dr. Mitchell Downey, HRNB president and Standardbred Canada chair, as saying that discussions are underway.
