Canada's top dash-winning driver for 2012 is harness racing's newest member of the 1,000 win club. Billy Davis, Jr. drove his 1,000th win on Wednesday afternoon at Flamboro Downs.

After being shut out for the first seven races, Davis hit the milestone in Race 8 aboard the appropriately named Oh So Sweet for trainer John Williamson and owner Daniel Haist of Ridgeville, Ont. It was the 315th win on the season for Davis, good for top spot in Canada and eighth among North American drivers.

Last year was a career season for the up-and-coming driver. Crushing all the goals he set for himself in 2011, Billy Davis Jr. recorded 404 wins, which ranked him fifth in Canada, 347 seconds and 295 third-place finishes in 2,585 outings while steering his mounts to $2,750,344 in purse earnings. The son of O'Brien Award-winning horseman Bill Davis called Langley, British Columbia home until May 2009.
