Track Records Fall In Adios Pick, Wild Rose

Sixdaysontheroad rolled down the road to score his sixth straight victory and lower the Grande Prairie track record for three-year-old colts and geldings in the last of three $16,666 Adios Pick divisions while Cuzzin Mimi set a new record for the fillies in the final Wild Rose division on Saturday afternoon

In the last Adios Pick division, trainer/driver Ron Graham and Sixdaysontheroad reached the lead at the first quarter mark in :28.1 after leaving from Post 6. The Allamerican Native-Resume Speed colt plowed past the remaining panels of :54.3 and 1:27 before pulling away by five lengths for the victory in 1:55.2.

Red Riverboat (Gerry Hudon) rode the pocket to finish second and Shouldabeensam (Keith Clark) finished third.

Owned by Walter Moroz of Edmonton, Alta., Sixdaysontheroad, a winner of $25,083, visited the winner’s circle for the eighth time in his career.

In the previous Adios Pick division, Wrangler Hitech equaled the former record of 1:55.4 that he held with Sixdaysontheroad. The As Promised-Raines Lucey colt dominated the field of five when he rolled to an eight-length victory for trainer/driver Keith Clark, who also shares ownership with Robert Jones of Slave Lake and Peter Giannakopoulos of Edmonton, Alta.

Wrangler Payday (Bill Tainsh, Jr.) and Oblivious Boy (Gerry Hudon) rounded out the top three.

Wrangler Hitech is now nine-for-13 in his sophomore campaign. The bay gelding has recorded 10 wins lifetime and $89,115 in earnings.

Camblazer was also a wire-to-wire winner in the first division for trainer/driver Gerry Hudon. The Camcracker-Squeaker Hanover colt stopped the clock in 1:57.3 finishing a length ahead of Westwood Franco (Keith Clark) and Cardiff Hanover (Mike Hennessy).

The bay has won half of his 10 starts this year for owner and breeder Bill Boden of Vancouver, B.C. Camblazer’s sixth lifetime win bumped his bankroll to $84,389.

Three $16,666 Wild Rose divisions were also featured on the card and Cuzzin Mimi, with Jamie Gray in the bike, rallied off second-over cover to establish a new track record for sophomore pacing fillies in the final event. As Incredible Beauty (Keith Clark) carved out fractions of :29.3, :58.4 and 1:28.1, Cuzzin Mimi, who got away fifth in the six horse field, picked up cover in the form of Onaway (Jeff Stone). The Real Artist-Firepower Hanover filly kicked home to win in 1:57.1 by a length over Onaway with Incredible Beauty finishing third. The time of the mile erased Lynettes Legacy’s 1:57.2 record.

Gray also trains and owns Cuzzin Mimi with Stanley Blustein of Edmonton and Shawn Blustein of Sherwood Park, Alta. The win was her fourth in six starts this season and fifth of her career lifting her bankroll to $33,429.

In the previous split, pacesetter Lynettes Legacy turned back a challenge from Allamerican Boo (Mike Hennessy) and then held off Barona Hush (Brent Grundy) by a head to win in 1:58. Lady And Thetrench (Keith Clark) was third.

Owned and bred by the Riverside Stables of Cochrane, Alta., the Aces N Sevens-Go Go Lynette miss won for the fifth time this year in 10 outings. Lynettes Legacy, a winner of six races lifetime and $31,516, is trained by Travis Tracey.

In the first division, Arctic Flame and driver Brandon Campbell popped the pocket after the half and rolled to a one and a half length score in 1:58.2. Promisinggoodnews (Jeff Stone) came on for second and Perfect Summer (Gerry Hudon) finished third.

The Dole Hanover-Alpine Mist filly notched her seventh win in 14 seasonal starts for trainer Harold Haining and owners Ralph McNalley of Sherwood Park and Terry Nowicki of Edmonton, Alta. The eight-time winner has earned $51,254 to date.

In Open action, Timberline Court earned the lion’s share of the $11,000 purse with his win in 1:54.4 for trainer/driver Gerry Hudon, who also co-owns with Lynn Kowalevsky of Airdrie, Alta. The four-year-old With Held-Bon Temps gelding, who made the lead after the half, won by a length and a half over Skip To my Mjjz (Brent Grundy) and Weekend Bernie (Mike Hennessy).

Timberline Court improved his record to 12-5-2 in 24 starts and bumped his earnings to $164,388.
