A pair of $9,000 co-features highlighted the 10-race card on Wednesday night (Aug. 7) at Saratoga Casino Hotel.

On an evening in which there were a handful of big long shots that prevailed, one of the features saw a 9-1 upset.

The Cuse Is Loose pulled first-over on the two favourites in his division of the feature for New York-sired trotters, and he cruised right past his rivals. The Cuse Is Loose secured the upset by stopping the timer in 1:59.1 to record his third win of the year. Brian Cross piloted the the five-year-old son of Deweycheatumnhowe for trainer Andy Byler.

The faster of the features went the way of Trendy Kim. The three-year-old Conway Hall filly had regular reinsman Bruce Aldrich Jr. aboard for trainer Darren Rybka Jr. Rybka acquired the sophomore trotter last month and rattled off three wins in his first four starts with her. On Wednesday, Trendy Kim went coast-to-coast in 1:58.4 as the 7-5 favourite to continue her winning ways.

Live racing resumes on Friday night (Aug. 9) at Saratoga with a 7:05 p.m. first post. There will be a $1,229 carryover in the Pick-5 pool, with that wager beginning in the evening’s first race.
