Kevin Switzer Jr. joined the 'Mr. 2,000 Club' on Sunday (August 7), notching the milestone win with a powerful performance in the $10,000 Howie Bamford Memorial Invitational at Scarborough Downs.
Driving for his father, the 29-year-old Switzer positioned Race Me Villa in the pocket behind the expected speed of A Sweet Ride before pouncing three-wide through the final turn to secure the narrow victory over the hard-charging Escape The News in front of a jam packed crowd on Family Fun Day. The winning time was 1:54 flat.
Race Me Villa is a six-year-od Village Jolt gelding owned by KDK Standardbreds, Kathleen Mofield and John Dickens.
