Captain Corey matched the Harrah's Philadelphia track record for two-year-old trotting colts with a 1:55 win in his $103,261 Pennsylvania Sire Stakes event on Wednesday afternoon (Aug. 5).

Driven by trainer Åke Svanstedt, Captain Corey cleared to the lead after a :28 quarter, rated a :58 half, and cruised home easily on his own to defeat stablemate Johan Palema by 1-1/2 lengths while equalling the 1:55 track record for rookie colts set by Rome Pays Off last year.

Captain Corey, a son of Googoo Gaagaa and Luv U All, has won both his starts to date for Åke Svanstedt Inc., SRF Stable, Knutsson Trotting Inc. and Midnight Sun Partners Inc.

In the other Sire Stakes section, which carried a $103,661 purse, the Bar Hopping-Ilia colt In Range rallied from second-over to win in 1:56.1, keeping his undefeated record intact at three wins. Tim Tetrick drove for trainer Marcus Melander and the partnership of the AMG Stable Inc., Kenneth Kjellgren, Tomas Hans Asell and Rick Wahlstadt.

Sire Bar Hopping also accounted for two winners in the six $20,000 companion Stallion Series divisions on the undercard: Mister Boinga, who equalled his mark of 1:58.2 in his second straight win, and After Work, who held off a monstrous closing move by New Legacy to win in 1:56.3, the fastest of the six Stallion Series events.

Trainer Julie Miller and driver Andy Miller, accounted for a pair of Stallion Series divisions as well, sending Sunny Crockett (1:57.1) and Lindys Goin Crazy (1:59.2) to victory. The Irishman (1:58.4) and Ceffyl Dwr (2:00) rounded out the stakes winners on the lower circuit.
