KG Art Dreamer crushed the competition he faced in a $6,000 conditioned pace Monday afternoon at Alberta Downs, and in the process he became the fastest older pacer in the track’s history.
The six-year-old gelded son of Artsplace-JJs Dreamer, who was making his debut for new connections following a claim, shaved one-fifth of a second off the former mark set by Timberline Court on June 27, 2011.
KG Art Dreamer shot to the position of command from the pole position and he led the group through fractions of :26.1, :55 and 1:23 before using a :28.2 closing quarter to seal the deal over race favourite Blue Star Admiral and Hollywood Warrior. The margin of victory in the record-setting performance was eight lengths.
Trained and driven by Brandon Campbell for partners Tim Kane of St. Albert and Jim MacPhail of Calgary, AB, KG Art Dreamer won for the fourth time this season and for the 21st time in his career. The lion’s share of the purse boosted his career bankroll to $101,121.
