After losing by a nose in last week’s elimination round, The Ice Dutchess manufactured a multiple-move victory in the James Doherty Memorial when the big money was on the line for Team Takter.

The Ice Dutchess, in rein to Johnny Takter, watched Hanovers Best take the field past the opening quarter in :28 before brushing to the front in the backstretch. She and Takter cruised by the mid-way point in :56.4 while feeling pressure from race favourite – and stablemate – Beautiful Sin.
After winning her elimination, Beautiful Sin rolled along and hit the three-quarter pole in 1:25.4. She began to drift off the rail in the lane, however, and that allowed The Ice Dutchess to power through that opening en route to scoring the mild upset in 1:53.4. Beautiful Sin held on for the runner-up award, with third prize going to Hanna Dreamgirl.
Jimmy Takter trains the daughter of Muscle Hill-The Ice Queen for Coyote Wynd Farms of Vancouver, British Columbia. In three career starts she’s managed to put together a 2-1-0 record. The lion’s share of the purse bumped her career earnings to $198,725.
