Tells On A Roll cruised to her 10th victory in the Fillies & Mares Preferred Pace at Woodbine Mohawk Park this season for driver Travis Cullen before a late evening thunderstorm rolled in prompting the cancellation of the final two races on the Friday, Aug. 30 card.

Assigned the outside seven post in the $36,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred Handicap following her victory in last Saturday's edition, Tells On A Roll sprinted off the gate to establish the lead in a :26.2 opening panel. Cullen stole a second-quarter breather, rating a half in :56.3, and Tells On A Roll raced on to three-quarters in 1:24.1 then began to open up three lengths as she kicked home in :26.2 for 1:50.3 victory. The 1-5 favourite, reigning Horse of the Year Sylvia Hanover, journeyed first-over for Bob McClure and closed within 1-1/4 lengths of the winner at the end. Huntress stalked from the pocket and finished third at 47-1 in rein to Sylvain Filion.

Tells On A Roll paid $8 to win as the 3-1 second choice in what turned out to be the Friday finale when severe weather struck after the featured ninth race.

The four-year-old daughter of Tellitlikeitis out of Have Rock Willroll is trained by Cullen's mother Jodie and co-owned by his father Ron. She is also co-owned by Cullen's A1 Stable and partner Paul Saunders of Surrey, B.C.

Tells On A Roll now boasts a seasonal record reading 10-2-4 from 17 starts with her annual income currently at $237,120. A career winner of 19 races, the Indiana Sires Stakes champion has banked $585,126.

She is eligible to the upcoming Milton Stakes, with eliminations set for next weekend if required.

In other Friday action, Travis Cullen's homebred Blue Bar ($7.60) maintained his perfect Ontario Sires Stakes record with a 1:52.3 career-best equalling victory in the fourth leg of the Grassroots Series for two-year-old pacing colts and geldings. Jodie Cullen handles the training duties for the All Bets Off colt out of the Alberta champion mare Feelin Flush.

Sauble Wilson ($2.50) made it back-to-back wins in the Grassroots Series with a 1:54 triumph in rein to Bob McClure. Otis Hall trains the homebred Betterthancheddar-Performing Art colt for owners Nasussito Racing Inc. and Sean Dunnett.

Lyons Honeymonster ($12.40) nosed out Belmont Blazer in the other division for his first career win in 1:53. James MacDonald drove the Bettors Delight-Albany Hanover colt, who was making his third career start for trainer Tony Beaton and owner Threelyonsracing.

Friday's cancelled races were a pair of $12,000 divisions of a Pop-Up Series for pacers that are non-winners of $18,000 in 2024 with a minimum of 10 starts or horses not averaging $1,400 per start. The series opener went to trainer Melissa Lamoureux's Delightful Leader ($13.20) in 1:51 with Doug McNair working out the winning pocket trip.
