A pair of Prospect Series winners kicked off a hat trick for trainer Scott McEneny during the Friday night, Aug. 30 card of harness racing at Grand River Raceway.
Bank On Lucas and A Fine Bordeaux defeated the favourites in their respective $8,000 divisions of the Prospect Series, giving McEneny a sweep of the Grand River leg for Ontario-sired two-year-old male trotters.
Bank On Lucas ($11.50) eked out his second Prospect win as the son of The Bank wore down 4-5 favourite Massedonia by a neck in a new mark of 2:00.1 with Brett MacDonald in the bike.
Making his series debut, the Green Manalishi S colt A Fine Bordeaux ($7.50) overtook 3-5 bettors' choice Sunday Shoes in the final turn and opened up 4-1/4 lengths for his first career win in 1:58.4 with Dave Boughton aboard.
The Prospect Series-bound two-year-old pacing gelding Bozak ($2.50) later completed McEneny's perfect night at Grand River with a 1:56.3 wire-to-wire victory in a $6,000 maiden race in rein to MacDonald. He's entered to return to the Elora oval for Prospect action on Wednesday.
A pair of Prospect filly divisions were won by the undefeated Kim Baxter trainee Its Not My Vault ($2.40) with Colin Kelly in 2:01.2 and the maiden-breaking Talbot Ehbeesea ($11.50) with Samuel Fillion in 2:01.1 for the Kyle Fellows stable.
