Yonkers Raceway continued its statebred baby shower with Thursday night's Mike Cohen Trot for two-year-old fillies.
Five divisions went at it, with a resurgent Crazy Grigio (Stephane Bouchard, $9.70) leading the parade by winning the opening ($56,968) division in a life-best 2:01. Leaving outside her six rivals, she was a two-move, three-quarters of a length swifter than 3-2 fave, Fifty Shades (Eric Goodell), with pace-setting Amor Deo (Trond Smedshammer) third.
Crazy Grigio, a daughter of Crazed co-owned by Albert, James IV and Michelle Crawford and James Kennedy, Jr. and trained by Dave Jannone, is now 2-for-4 this season.
The second ($56,968) division saw odds-on Isabella Gal (Jim Morrill, Jr., $3.50) hold 45-1 shot Bouncing Bax (Jim Raymer) at bay. Leaving from post six, Isabella Gal went the distance, winning by a half-length in 2:00.3. Single Sock (Dan Daley) was a pocket third, with There Goes My Baby (Jason Bartlett) fourth.
Isabella Gal, a daughter of RC Royalty co-owned by (trainer) Jeff Long, (breeder) Bob Brooks, Lynn Brooks and John Buettner, has won three (consecutive) of her five first-season starts.
Thursday night's third ($56,968) event saw Order By Credit (Jimmy Takter, $10.60) break her maiden. Pocketed from post six, she waited for room, then edged out and edged home in 2:03. Vixen (Bouchard) closed inside but missed a neck, with 9-10 choice Barn Babe (John Cummings, Jr.) tiring to third.
Order By Credit, a Credit Winner miss trained by Takter for Order By Credit Stable, won in her second career start.
The evening's fourth ($57,968) sire stakes event was a minuet for the misbehavers. Several lasses - including 3-10 choice Palm Beach Chic (Jeff Gregory) - jumped it off. That left Pretty Crazy (Morrill, Jr., $11.40) to her own devices, and she finished what she started in 2:03.
Stepping up after three consecutive Excelsior Series wins, Pretty Crazy - leaving from post five - defeated Classic Paola (Bouchard) by a length. Con Air Crown (Brian Connor) was third at 118-1, with South Jersey Diva (Steve Reisenweaver) fourth.
Pretty Crazy, a daughter of Crazed co-owned by (trainer) Brandon Simpson, Dirk Simpson, Peggy Hood and Mystical Marker Farms, is now 4-for-5 to begin her career.
The final ($56,968) statebred event was won by a down-the-road, even-money choice Proclaiming April (Smedshammer, $4) in a life-best 2:00.1. Leaving from post three, she whipped Pegasus Sis (Bouchard) by a length-and-a-half, with You Want Me (Cat Manzi) third.
Proclaiming April, a Conway Hall homebred trained by Smedshammer for White Birch Farm, has won twice in three '12 tries.
Thursday’s sire stakes event honoured the memory of the former PR director at both Yonkers Raceway and NBC Sports. Cohen’s son, Ross, was on hand to make winner’s circle presentations.
