Allegiant Shows Class At Red Mile

On Monday (Aug. 26), Red Mile hosted one $80,000 third leg of the Kentucky Sire Stakes and Allegiant returned to her winning ways in 1:53.4.

Two $30,000 third round divisions of the Kentucky Commonwealth Series and three $15,000 divisions of the Kentucky Golden Rod Series for freshman filly trotters were also featured on the card.

Allegiant (Scott Zeron) went straight to the front from post five. The filly clicked off fractions of :29, :57 and 1:25.3 while Volcanic Blue Chip (Ake Svanstedt) allowed her to cut the mile in second position. Volcanic Blue Chip came rolling in the lane with her best shot; however, Allegiant was still adamant she would not taste defeat. Special Talent (Dexter Dunn) was third.

Trained by Vernon Beachy, Allegiant is a daughter of Tactical Landing-Too Good For You. She was a $50,000 purchase at the 2022 Standardbred Horse Sale by Ryan Smith and was bred by Atlantic Trot Inc. and Steve Stewart.

The filly is the 14th foal out of her unraced dam. Allegiant is a half-sibling to: Beer Budget (sired by Yankee Paco, $527,156 career earnings); Only Lonely (Yankee Paco, $229,192); Tigers Too Good (Conway Hall, $399,892); Elin (Angus Hall, $386,869); West Side Story (Conway Hall, $192,925); Maracana (Donato Hanover, $111,935); Shape Shifter (Kadabra, $192,322) and The Hazelton (Muscle Mass, $183,734).

Allegiant sports a resume of 7-4-1-0 and has amassed $143,400 in purse money.

She paid $6.28 to win as the favourite.

French Champagne Remains Undefeated In Commonwealth Series

French Champagne (Svanstedt, $2.42) entered the winner’s circle for the third occasion in as many starts to remain undefeated in her young career in the first division of the series on the card. The daughter of Muscle Hill-French Champagne trotted a new lifetime mark of 1:54.3 with her trainer-driver holding the lines.

The filly competes as a homebred for Marvin Katz and Al Libfeld. Her granddam is 2008 Hambletonian Oaks victress Creamy Mimi.

One World (Dunn, $37.80) sprung the upset in the second division at odds of 17-1 with a final clocking of 1:54.2. The daughter of Muscle Hill-Selfie Hanover is conditioned by Lucas Wallin and broke her maiden in her fourth start.

The filly is a homebred racing for Marvin Katz and Al Libfeld.

Green Mercedes Is Perfect In Golden Rod Series  

Green Mercedes (Andy Miller, $4.50), Haloa (Louis Baudron, $19.72) and Summer Young (David Miller, $5.20) won the three divisions for freshman pacing fillies.

Red Mile offers a rich buffet of wagering items including a 20-cent Pick-6 with 15 per cent takeout, a 50-cent Pick-5 with an industry low 12 per cent takeout, a Super Hi-5 15 per cent takeout, and Pick-4 events, with a $10,000 guaranteed pool in conjunction with the U.S. Trotting Association’s Strategic Wagering Program.
